Tebori has its roots in ancient Japan, developed during the Edo period (1603-1868). The word "Tebori" means "hand-carved," and this technique has been passed down from generation to generation by tattoo masters. Using a tool called "nomi," a bamboo or metal rod with needles at the tip, artists create tattoos with a precision and depth that cannot be achieved with modern machines. The traditional method allows for detailed control over each stroke, ensuring greater durability and more vibrant colors in the tattoos.
The Tebori process is a ceremony in itself, where each stroke is carefully executed to ensure precision and depth. Each session immerses you in a ritual that honors and celebrates Japan's rich culture. Additionally, at ONAS, we have strong connections with various Japanese artists, allowing us to bring the best of this ancient tradition directly to our studio in Barcelona.
Tebori at ÖNAS
At Onas, Japanese tattoos are crafted by Japanese artists in the traditional style, offering a unique ritualistic experience and results in Barcelona's hand-carved art. Each artist has their own style and works closely with clients to create unique pieces, ranging from small tattoos to full-back designs or the renowned "suits" of this peculiar and ancient style.
At ONAS, we care about ensuring our clients have a memorable experience from the moment they walk through the door. Therefore, we will be happy to address your questions about the process and dispel all the taboos surrounding this art.
