TATTOO AFTER CARE GUIDE

First things first

As important as the care a tattoo artist takes in providing all sterilized materials for the session and maintaining proper hygiene during it, are the essential care steps the client must follow in the following days. Paying special attention to the evolution, symptoms, and appearance of the skin after the appointment. Here we detail some of the basic steps to follow to ensure proper tattoo care:

First step

Once the session is finished and during the same day, it is advisable to keep the tattoo covered with plastic wrap, changing it once more after washing the tattoo with warm water and mild soap after a short time.
Important: let the skin dry for 15 minutes before applying the wrap to avoid moisture build-up. Do not apply cream on the first day.
If you have a second skin, keep it on until it falls off by itself (a maximum of 2 days). When removing it, do so under warm water with special care.

Second step

The day after the session and after washing the tattoo again, let it dry for about 15 minutes and apply a VERY THIN LAYER of specific tattoo cream. A maximum of 2 times a day, for up to 20 days if necessary.
If you have a second skin, follow this process once it has fallen off or you have removed it.

It is normal that...

The skin bleeds or secretes plasma during the first two days.

The dead skin in the area begins to fall off between the third and sixth day (remember that this process can last several more days).

The skin has a stronger odor that can become somewhat unpleasant.

Important

Do not touch or scratch the area! Despite the itching you may experience, it is important that neither you nor anything else touches the skin. You can easily injure it, remember that it is a very fragile area.
Avoid direct sun exposure.
For the first two to three days, avoid workouts that make you sweat a lot.
Do not wet the tattoo with pool or beach water, as it can get infected with bacteria.
Do not over-hydrate the tattoo. Common symptoms of over-hydration include the appearance of a slight reddish rash around the piece.
Do not use hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, or other disinfectants; just keep the area clean and follow the indicated instructions.
Every time you clean the tattoo, dry it well. Kitchen paper works perfectly. It absorbs the water and does not leave cellulose residues (avoid using toilet paper).

VERY Important

If you experience any symptoms not described in the previous sections, contact the studio, either by visiting in person or, if you cannot come, by sending a photo and an explanation of the symptoms. We will get in touch with you as soon as possible to assist you.
If you experience a symptom that includes pain in the tattooed area or it looks unusual, urgently visit your dermatologist or general practitioner. It is important not to delay, as it could be an infection or an allergic reaction.

Long life to your tattoos!

If you weren't doing it already, it's time to start applying SPF 50 sunscreen. Skin, like any other tissue, gets damaged by the sun, especially if it has pigments. By doing this, you will contribute to the preservation of your tattoos and protect yourself from possible diseases caused by sun exposure.
Hydrate your skin. The body's largest organ needs water just like any other. Use a light-textured body moisturizer; this will help improve the life of your skin and keep your tattoos looking vibrant for many years.
